Selangor UMNO information chief Datuk Zein Isma Ismail said the throwing of buckets into the state government complex yesterday was neccessary to protest the water woes of residents.
"Who are the real gangsters, UMNO Youth or Bersih? We threw buckets and water bottles to air our frustration over the water woes.
"On the other hand, Bersih destroyed public facilities and overturned police cars," he told reporters when asked to comment on remarks by certain quarters that UMNO Youth members were acting like gangsters.
On Tuesday, UMNO Youth members descended on Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah here armed with buckets to protest the water woes.
Zein Isma said Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali should take responsibility for the water woes and immediately resolve the issue.
"We were told that the group of protesters threw the buckets after Azmin refused to accept the memorandum sent by UMNO Youth."
Some of the 200 protesters led by UMNO Youth Exco member, Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah threw buckets and water bottles into the building compound.
The Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (WTP) closed for more than five times this year due to pollution, the most recent was on Oct 23.
