Interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has returned to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) as its chairman.
The matter was confirmed by Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Marzuki Yahya in a statement.
“During a meeting on Feb 25, Bersatu Supreme Council unanimously rejected Dr Mahathir’s resignation as chairman. I conveyed the decision to Dr Mahathir for his consideration.
“The Bersatu Supreme Council has unanimously rejected Dr Mahathir’s resignation as chairman.
"I conveyed the decision to Dr Mahathir. After a discussion today, he agreed to return as Bersatu chairman effective immediately,” he says.

Dr Mahathir quit as chairman of Bersatu on Monday. Bersatu supreme council member Datuk A. Kadir Jasin, in a blog post, revelead that the elderly statesman decided to quit following a heated debate during the party supreme council meeting on Sunday.
