UMNO Gelang Patah permanent chairman Datuk Baharom Abdul Ghani announced his decision to quit from the party during the division meeting today.
He said he took the decision because he lost the trust he had in the party's top leadership.
He left soon after making his announcement at the meeting.
Baharom who co-founded the Gelang Patah division in 1994, was formerly Tanjung Kupang assemblyman.
He also posted his decision to leave the party on his Facebook page.
UMNO Gelang Patah division chief Mohamad Khairi A.Malik when asked to comment said Baharom's decision came as a surprise.
