In this regard, the Chairman of the Kelantan UMNO Liaison Body, Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said it is time not only for UMNO to sacrifice, but all parties need to do the same for the 15th General Election (GE15).
"This is UMNO that is always sensitive to the interests of the people. We don't sideline the interests of any party, UMNO, from its early establishment, our goal is to see the well-being of the people, to defend the people.
"So if we talk (about) sacrifices, all parties should make sacrifices, including UMNO. Among the MPs from Bersatu, they were originally from UMNO.
“UMNO is sacrificing its own feeling, which is the hardest to make in life.
"UMNO made a great sacrifice to celebrate together with all parties in order to see this country is on track and is governed by a group that is really able to bring peace and prosperity to the people," said Ahmad Jazlan describing the relationship of the two Malay parties.
Ahmad Jazlan said this when interviewed by Astro AWANI on Sunday.
He added that the recent meeting between UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin showed how a consensus could be made before the winding up of the 2021 Budget at the policy stage in Dewan Rakyat.
Commenting on the distribution of UMNO seats leading up to GE15, Ahmad Jazlan said he would abide by whatever the party leadership's decision is.
However, he said, honesty and justice need to be translated, especially considering UMNO's previous sacrifices.
Ahmad Jazlan reiterated the principle that should be defended before any political decision is taken by the top leadership is to place the interests and welfare of the people as the main pillar.
"At the same time, sacrifices should not be made by one party only, but should be made by all parties.
“UMNO has done its best towards this government. For us, the people must see that UMNO is a party that is always sensitive to what needs to be done for the sake of religion, race and country.
"Kelantan UMNO does not demand many things, for us, let justice be done, let the honesty of this consensus really exist and can be translated not just in mere talk," he added.
