UMNO members need not wait for instruction to help strengthen party - Shafie
SHAFIE: Do not ask what the leaders can do, but ask what the members can do to strengthen UMNO.
UMNO members need not to wait for the instruction from top leadership to help strengthen the party, but should take their own initiatives to restore public confidence in the party, UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal said.
"UMNO members must play their roles. Don't ask what the leaders can do, but ask what the members can do to strengthen UMNO," he told reporters after opening the Parit Sulong UMNO delegates meeting, Saturday.
Mohd Shafie, who is Semporna Member of Parliament, also reminded UMNO members not to do the party work for themselves, but more for the people in a bid to regain their support.
When asked whether he would stay with UMNO even after being dropped from the Cabinet line up during the July 28 reshuffle, the vice-president said he would definitely stay with UMNO.
"This is our fight and I repeat this that as one of UMNO founders in Sabah, this is the party that unites the people in Sabah, and we will definitely continue to do so," he said.
