UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday highlighted three main points, including loyalty to the party leadership, that all UMNO state and divisional liaison secretaries have to take into consideration for continuation of the party's struggle.
This was disclosed by UMNO Supreme Council member and secretary of the Key Performance Indicators Bureau, Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim, after a closed-door briefing by Ahmad Zahid to the liaison secretaries.
He said Ahmad Zahid, who is discharging the duties of UMNO deputy president, also reminded the liaison secretaries to be more sensitive to the elements that could split the party.
"The role of UMNO state and divisional liaison secretaries is very important because they are individuals appointed by the President (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak).
"It is surely very important to ensure that the administrative structure always meets the aspirations of current realities and does not follow the old methods," he said to reporters.
He spoke to the media after a meeting between UMNO divisional liaison secretaries and the UMNO Deputy President and Secretary-General in conjunction with the 2016 UMNO General Assembly here Monday.
Irmohizam said Ahmad Zahid also reminded the liaison secretaries to prepare the party machinery to be ready at all times for the 14th General Election, which is due in June 2018.
He said emphasis was also given to a proposal for the findings of the UMNO Political Inspectorate Department to be documented to ensure that the party machinery and administration continued to be consolidated.
At the closed-door session, Ahmad Zahid also presented awards to UMNO divisions for having best attendance, best documentation and records, and best war room as well as to the cyber troopers' centre. -- Bernama
