UMNO Supreme Council meeting: 'No one was sacked' - President Najib Razak
UMNO President, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said, the meeting was held in a peaceful environment and in a spirit of comradeship.
No sacking or dismissal had taken place during the UMNO Supreme Council meeting held today.
Its President, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said, the meeting had taken place in a peaceful manner filled with the spirit of comradeship.
“I welcome Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s involvement in stating his loyalty to UMNO and to fight for UMNO and the coming 14th General Election.
“I also thank Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal for his commitment towards the party.
“The importance of high-level solidarity on certain issues is in order for us to ensure the continuity of the party to stay in power and in resolving any issues,” said Najib during a press conference held after chairing the UMNO Supreme Council meeting at Menara Dato’ Onn, here today.
The Supreme Council meeting this time was the first to be held following the cancellation of its original meeting scheduled to be held on July 31.
Earlier, UMNO vice-president, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidid , Wanita chief, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and Pemuda chief, Khairy Jamaluddin said no sacking would take place today and added that the matter had never been discussed and were merely rumours.
Najib added that the meeting had also discussed issues pertaining to 1Malaysia Develeopment Berhad (1MDB).
“In the matter of 1MDB and its current position, we have also set a time frame for the debt to be reduced and the rationalization process to be settled.
“We also acknowledge receiving encouraging offers, but are unable to make any announcement. We will inform once it is done,” he said.
Najib also stressed that UMNO will not reveal anything pertaining to the political fund issue brought up by several quarters, recently.
“There is no law which applies to this issue. There is no need to reveal any information pertaining to this fund,” he said.
Najib announced that the UMNO General Assembly this year would take place on December 8 to December 12.
