Unofficial count: BN wins Kuala Kangsar, Sungai Besar by-elections

Unofficial count shows that BN retained both the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar parliamentary seats with increased majority.
The unofficial results in Sungai Besar as of 9pm are that BN has garnered 15,825 votes while PAS (6,397) and Parti Amanah Negara (7,105).
While in Kuala Kangsar, the unofficial count show BN with 9,435, PAS (3,947), Amanah (4,434) and Independent 43.
Both the by-elections were held following the death of the incumbent MP Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad (Kuala Kangsar) and Tan Sri Noriah Kasnon (Sungai Besar) in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak last May 5.
There were 32,949 registered voters eligible to cast their votes for the Kuala Kangsar by-election comprising 32,632 ordinary voters, 312 (early voters) and five absentee voters who were abroad.
The Kuala Kangsar by-election involved a four-cornered fight between BN candidate Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid, Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad (PAS), Prof Dr Ahmad Termizi Ramli (Parti Amanah Negara) and Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary (Bebas).
Meanwhile, the fight for the Sungai Besar seat is between Budiman, Dr Abdul Rani Osman (PAS) and Azhar Abdul Shukur (Amanah).
There are 42,365 eligible voters in Sungai Besar.
