Vell Paari appointed as new MIC treasurer-general

S. Vell Paari, son of former MIC president, Datuk S. Samy Vellu, has been appointed as the new MIC treasurer-general while A. Sakthivel stays as party secretary-general.
MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam announced that the appointment of Vell Paari is effective April 1.
Among the new Central Working Committee (CWC) members is Datuk T. Murugiah, who is a former member of the People's Progressive Party and former Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.
He joined MIC on Aug 5, 2010.
The others include the son of former MIC deputy president Tan Sri S. Subramaniam and Seputeh Division chief S. Sunther, Kota Raja Division chief Datuk R.S Maniam, Kelana Jaya Division chief Datuk S.M. Muthu, Sepang Division chief V. Gunalan, Ampang Division chief S. Kalimuthu and Subang Division chief
N.R. Krishnan.
Dr Subramaniam made the announcements after chairing the CWC meeting here, today.
"The appointments of all the seven new CWC members are effective immediately," he said.
Dr Subramaniam, who is also Health Minister, said he made the appointments based on his right as president to appoint nine CWC members.
Prior to this, two other CWC members, namely former MIC vice-president Datuk M. Saravanan and former party information chief, Datuk V S Mogan were appointed by Dr Subramaniam.
He said, with the appointments, the number of CWC members stood at 45 people.
Touching on the meeting today, Dr Subramaniam said it discussed the MIC transformation and programmes which would be carried out through out this year, among others, to turn out at least 2,000 entrepreneurs from the Indian community.
