Newly-elected PAS Central Working Committee member, Nik Mohd Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has described his win as recognition for the contributions of the youth wing in the party to face the coming 14th General Election.

"I hope to remain consistent, and this is recognition of all youth delegates who voted for me," he told reporters when asked to comment on his win into the party leadership.

Nik Mohd Abduh said he would continue to work with the party leadership to strengthen the party, especially its president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, using his experience as Youth chief for its benefit.

Nik Mohd Abduh was among the 18 of 26 candidates who contested for the post of PAS Central Working Committee member for the 2017-2019 term.

He garnered the highest number of votes, with 1,005 out of the 1,209 delegates who were eligible to vote last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bukit Gantang MP Idris Ahmad who retained his vice-president post said the elections were conducted in a harmonious and calm manner throughout the assembly, which convinced him that no PAS member would leave the party but accepted the results with an open heart.

"We have vowed that those who lose will not leave and many candidates accepted the results so as to contribute to the party''s growth," he said.

The other two incumbents are Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah and Selangor PAS Commissioner Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad.

Meanwhile, PAS Central Information Chief Nasruddin Hassan who was defeated in his bid for the post of vice-president said the loss did not dampen his spirit to uphold Islam and he would continue to be with the elected leadership.

He said this was because PAS had successors who were capable of leading, adding that although many had left the party, it (party) only became stronger, calmer and solid.
