The reason behind PAS’ rejection of PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the new Selangor menteri besar is solely due to her inability to shoulder the post.
Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the rejection of the Kajang state assemblyman had nothing to do with her gender but a leader to be elected should fulfil several criteria.
“A leader that is to be elected has to fulfil several criteria. Among them is the ability and qualification to be a leader.
“If she doesn’t have the ability to answer questions or debate in Parliament or the State Legislative Assembly, how can she become a leader? This cannot be the case.
“She has not met these conditions and therefore she is not qualified to be a leader.
“That is the real reason why we had rejected her as the candidate for the Selangor menteri besar’s post and has nothing to do with her gender,” he said during a dialogue session at Rusila, Marang on Friday.
He also explained that the party sent three names for the post as the Sultan had asked for more than two names to be submitted.
“We want the Sultan to choose but we only submit one candidate. How is he to choose? We then received a letter from the Sultan asking us to submit more than two names,” he said.
