Shah Alam member of Parliament Khalid Samad said he and those interested to form political party, Gerakan Harapan Baru are still members of PAS until the new party is formed.

“We are still PAS members and we move in the society as PAS members,” he said in an interview with Analisis AWANI, Monday.

In the interview, Khalid said he and the others referred as Group 18 (G18) did not do anything that went against PAS Constitution.

He stressed that at this juncture, it was not necessary for anyone to question the G18 membership in PAS.

Before this, PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said any PAS members who promote the formation of a new party or try to pull PAS members to leave the party will have their membership revoked immediately.

PAS disciplinary committee will also investigate the matter should such complaints be brought up, he said.

On Monday, former PAS deputy president Mat Sabu announced the formation of Gerakan Harapan Baru as a platform to bring back the political cooperation between DAP, PKR and PAS.

On Monday, Selangor PAS announced the sacking of several members from the party who were found to be involved in the new party.

Selangor PAS secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the termination of their membership was in accordance with Article 13(1)(c) of PAS' Constitution.
