Pakatan Rakyat and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) must disclose to the public exactly when the party found out about the alleged misconducts committed by Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as it is no longer a party issue but involves the interest of the people.

Social activist Kua Kia Soong also raised the question of whether Pakatan and PKR will cover-up the allegations if Abdul Khalid is removed from office.

Describing the issue as reaching a level of "no turning back", Kua said: "Malaysians will not accept if these serious allegations be withdrawn if Abdul Khalid resigns, as it involves the interest of Selangorians and the rest of the country."

The questions he raised were in an open statement that was published by several news portals yesterday.

The Suaram advisor and former DAP MP also asked if the first alleged wrongdoing was discovered after the 13th general election (GE) since Abdul Khalid was reappointed as MB after the GE.

“How did Rafizi the rat-catcher miss out on these alleged malpractices? Is Rafizi only a selective rat-catcher?” Kua asked, referring to Pandan MP and PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli.

Previously, Rafizi had disclose several alleged misconduct involving Barisan Nasional leaders, including the funding for the cattle-feeding project, the National Feedlot Corporation (NFCorp) that was associated with the Wanita UMNO chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

Kua also asked whether PKR vice-president Tian Chua had been kept in the dark or did not take these charges on Abdul Khalid’s malpractices seriously since he was recently quoted as saying that Abdul Khalid would still be the state economic adviser when Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail becomes MB.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution on Tuesday had submitted a letter to PAS, revealing several allegations outlining why Abdul Khalid was not qualified to become the Selangor MB.

On Monday, Abdul Khalid had demanded Saifuddin to submit the allegations to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and to make a police report. Abdul Khalid had said he was willing to be investigated in relation to all of the allegations.

The crisis involving the Selangor Menteri Besar's post began to heat up after the GE13 in which Abdul Khalid, previously regarded as an efficient leader, began to have problems.

Abdul Khalid was said to be making decisions without referring to PKR and Pakatan leaders, decisions that seemed to benefit Barisan Nasional more.

The PKR Political Bureau meeting, held in January, had decided for Abdul Khalid to vacate his post as Menteri Besar.

PKR later strategised the "Kajang Move" to appoint a new Menteri Besar.

The Kajang move, which had originally put PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a candidate in the Kajang by-election, was an initial strategy to win Putrajaya in the upcoming GE14.

However, the Court of Appeal found Anwar guilty of sodomising his personal aide, Saiful Bukhari Azlan six years ago.

The decision disqualified Anwar to contest in the by-election and he was replaced by his wife and PKR president Wan Azizah.

Wan Azizah subsequently won the by-election but Abdul Khalid still did not resign.

Demands were made but Abdul Khalid said he would continue to hold office until the end of the term.

PKR finally named Wan Azizah as a candidate to replace Abdul Khalid.

However, PKR’s move did not get the support of PAS. PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had stated that his party still wanted Abdul Khalid as the Selangor MB.

Abdul Hadi's assertiveness garnered the support of PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, further complicating PKR’s move.

PKR finally provided a 24 page-thick report listing six reasons why Abdul Khalid should be removed from office.
