UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied that the party had ever discussed to establish cooperation with DAP.
According to a Sinar Harian report, he however claimed that there was someone from UMNO who had often met with DAP leaders.
Ahmad Zahid asserted that it was too early for UMNO to announce a coalition with any party.
"It is too early to say that we want to join this party or that party.
"We have never discussed even though there was someone from our party who held quite an important position at that time who often met the (DAP) party leaders compared to the UMNO president and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman," he said as quoted in a heart-to-heart interview with the UMNO president published in Malaysiaport on Sunday.
Previously, former BN secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa had claimed that there was a move by UMNO to work with DAP, including forming a new government.
According to the Federal Territories Minister, he received a report that UMNO was in the process of collaborating with DAP for that purpose.
The Ketereh MP also explained that the negotiations involved several people who were not disclosed to the party.
Annuar, however, declined to reveal the individuals involved in the 'negotiations', instead, only saying that the meeting involved UMNO's top leadership.
