A month before the start of the prestigious international soccer tournament, FIFA has released information on the show that will kick things off in Sao Paulo on June 12.
Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte and Brazilian band Olodum will perform the official anthem of the World Cup, "We Are One," at the end of the ceremony.
Naturally, the opening ceremony will pay homage to the host country of the 2014 World Cup. The show will take place at 3:15pm local time at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Belgian artistic director Daphné Cornez is the coordinator of the spectacle.
The 25-minute performance will take place around a glowing spherical centerpiece symbolizing a soccer ball.
Made of 90,000 light clusters, the ball will have a total luminance of 7,000 Lux. The performers will practice for a total of 84 hours before the big day.
Acrobatic gymnasts, trampolinists, capoeira performers and stilt walkers will all take part in the event to kick off the festivities.
The opening game of the tournament, in which Brazil will face off against Croatia, will take place around two hours later in the same stadium, so the performers will be taking special care not to damage the pitch.
