National Under-22 squad head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee has dropped four from the list of 26 players from the squad that leaves to China for three friendly matches from June 8-16 as preparations for the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.
According to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) in a statement today, the four were dropped after a friendly match against Felda United which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Wisma FAM field yesterday.
Kim Swee had decided to drop goalkeepers Ahmad Syihan Hazmi Mohamed and Danial Ashraf Abdullah from Kelantan, plus Ariff Farhan Md Isa (Kedah) and Raphi Azizan Mariappen (PJ Rangers), all due to injuries," said the statement from FAM.
On June 2, Kim Swee had called up three new players, Muhammad Irfan Zakaria (Kuala Lumpur), Sean Eugene Selvaraj and L. Kalaiharasan (Negeri Sembilan) to replace the injured Ahmad Khairil Anuar Zamri (Perak), Nur Shamie Iszuan Amin (Sarawak) and Ahmad Azriddin Rosli (Felda United).
However, Ahmad Khairil will continue to undergo rehabilitation at Wisma FAM while Nur Shamie and Ahmad Azriddin will return to their respective clubs.
The squad that leaves to China will play against the China U-22 squad at the Xiangtan Sports Centre Stadium on (June 10) and fly to Guangzhou on June 11 to play against Guangzhou R&F reserves on June 13 and Guangzhou Evergrande reserves on June 15.
