The cabinet today decided that Harimau Malaysia will play in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 in Myanmar, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said.
There had been calls for Harimau Malaysia to pull out from the football tournament in protest against Myanmar's crackdown on ethnic Rohingyas.
Khairy said diplomatic action regarding the issue will be announced by the relevant ministry.
"The cabinet has decided to carry on with the tournament in Myanmar. Diplomatic actions will be taken by the Foreign Ministry," Khairy told reporters outside the Prime Minister's Office earlier today.
