There is one particular city Malaysian bantamweight 'Jungle Cat' Muhammad Aiman has in mind for his ONE Championship return, and that place is Kuala Lumpur.
The Bali MMA athlete is looking forward to entering the Circle once again, but he hopes to be booked on the ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY card, which is scheduled for Friday, 12 July at the Axiata Arena.
“I was offered to compete at ONE: ENTER THE DRAGON on 17 May, but I felt I won’t be at my best as it'll be during the fasting period,” the 24-year-old revealed.
“But I’d love to fight in Kuala Lumpur. I’ll be back in Malaysia for Hari Raya, which is in June, and it’ll be a perfect setting to make my comeback.”
It’s been a busy year for the athlete at Bali MMA, who has been training with high-level competitors and improving his martial arts skills.
The promotion’s bantamweight division has also seen its fair share of entertainment with epic clashes such as Bibiano Fernandes versus Kevin Belingon, Dae Hwan Kim versus Ayideng Jumayi, and Xie Bin’s impressive round two submission over Ahmad Qais Jasoor last month.
All these match-ups have left “Jungle Cat” more determined to prove his worth in the stacked weight class.
“I’ve been experimenting with a lot of things over this period. I’m improving myself in the grappling department and trying to focus on my mental strength, too,” he explained.
“I feel like if I get a match in KL, the fans and my family are going to witness a new Aiman. I’ve been improving a lot in every single way, and I’m excited about what I could go on to display in my next fight.”
Despite his hectic training schedule at Bali MMA, Aiman knows the importance of having fun.
These two things combined have continuously seen the bantamweight martial artist prosper with stylish victories over Eduardo Novaes, Yang Fei, and Chen Lei throughout the years.
“Over here, we have solid training sessions, but also enjoy various [activities] such as surfing or visiting the beach,” he said.
“Most recently, I went to Japan for ONE: A NEW ERA and I extended my stay there for a week with Gianni Subba. We traveled light and did everything together. It was the best break ever. But for now, I want to fight before I think of another trip to Japan.”
