Andik Vermansyah hopes to use 'inside knowledge' to beat Malaysia

"I am a professional player and will adopt a different style when playing against Malaysia tomorrow night," said Indonesian footballer Andik Vermansyah who plays for Selangor in the M-League.

Andik who plays for Selangor as an imported player, had been released by his employer to join the Indonesian squad after he was picked to play for his country.

He said, although tomorrow night's match would be a difficult one for him as many Malaysian players are aware of his moves, he too can claim to have a similar advantage since he knows most of the Malaysian players and how they play.

He said although his position would be the same, namely as a winger, he would change his rhythm during the match so that his movements are not easily deciphered.

"I will perform differently and will be forced to change my rhythm to ensure my Malaysian colleagues will not be able to read my movements," he told Bernama, here today.

"I will certainly brief my Indonesian teammates about Malaysian players who must be given attention and the Malaysian team's strength based on my experience and knowledge while with Selangor," he said.

Andik said based on the spirit of the players in the team, he was confident that the Indonesian team can perform better than Malaysia.

The match against Malaysia tomorrow will be Indonesia's first international match after the Indonesian national team was suspended for a year by the International Football Federation (FIFA) following the government's interference in the football association.

Indonesia picked Malaysia as the opener for its international action at the Manahan Stadium here in preparation for the Suzuki Cup in November.
