National squash icon, Datuk Nicol David set another milestone in her career after maintaining her position in the World's top 10 for a record 151st successive month.

The 32-year-old Penangite surpassed the 150-month world top 10 record set by Britain’s Peter Nicol when he retired in October 2006, as well as the 142 straight months achieved by Australians Michelle Martin and Nicol's long time coach, Liz Irving, according to the squash site, www.worldsquash.org.

Meanwhile, Nicol through her Facebook said, squash continues to offer her higher challenges every time she competes, which drives her to always push herself towards full potential.

"I've grown so much as a squash player from the moment I broke into the top ranks till now. My achievement can only be made possible by learning from someone who has done this run before and Liz has been the true driving force behind this.

"Thanks to Liz and my team that she has put together for me to make sure I'm at the top of my game, the best way I can," she posted.

It was January 2004 when Nicol first broke into the world's top 10 after making her way into the semi-finals of the World Championship.

Exactly two years later, she successfully claimed the top spot as world number one for the first time ever, till Netherland's Vanessa Atkinson retained the spot in April of the same year.

Nicol captured back the top of the ranking in August 2006, which she retained for an unprecedented nine-year (109-month) reign till September 2015.

Currently, Nicol is in the fourth place with 16,170 points behind world number one Nour El Sherbini of Egypt who accumulated 25,900 points, England's Laura Massaro (25,055 points) and another Egyptian Raneem El Welily (19,355 points).
