The future of National coaches under the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will most likely be determined by newly-appointed Technical Director and former legendary Danish badminton ace Morten
Frost Hansen.

BAM President Tan Sri Tengku Mahaleel Tengku Ariff hinted that the scope of offering new contracts to coaches would most likely be in the hands of Frost and not the BAM.

According to Tengku Mahaleel, based on the contract offered to Frost effective March, the former Danish star would be given a free hand in deciding the coaches based on comprehensive progress reports submitted by a number of individuals who will prepare the report.

"Once Morten Frost is here, we will discuss and determine who will head which department or unit. The discussions will also include the National Sports Council (NSC) and the National Sports Institute (ISN), BAM Council members and competition committee chairman.

"In the contract with Frost, he is allowed to make changes. We hope to discuss, who is best for what and who should do what and when and how because he knows our coaches," he told reporters after meeting the coaches at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara, here, Monday.

During the meeting Monday, except for Rashid Sidek, all the other national coaches were present, including Tey Seu Bock, Rosman Razak, Pang Cheh Chang, Jeremy Gan and Wong Tat Meng whose contracts had expired on Dec 31.

Their contracts have since been temporarily extended until March.

"Since the SEA Games and a number of other major tournaments are around the corner, we have decided to extend the contract of the coaches but whether they will continue or not.

"If any coach is not picked by Frost, that coach would be given an extension of three months to enable him or she to find a new job," said Tengku Mahaleel.
