Datuk Lee Chong Wei needed three games to beat Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam to enter the men's singles semi-final where he will face nemesis Lin Dan of China.
The Malaysian badminton hero found Nguyen to be a tough customer in the quarter-final match and suffered a shock loss 21-23 in the first game.
However, the world's number bounced back in style to wrap the next two games 21-16, 21-17 in a three-game thriller at Gyeyang Gymnasium Saturday.
"My opponent put up a tough fight in the first game but I managed to find my stride in the next two games.
"My mindset is OK. The important thing is to regain my fitness," said Chong Wei who refused to comment on the semi-final match against Lin Dan on Sunday.
In the other quarter-finals, Lin Dan beat Kenichi Tago of Japan, 21-14, 21-18, while Chen Long beat Son Wanho of South Korea, 21-16, 21-19.
In the other semi-final match, Chen Long will meet Wei Nan of Hong Kong who beat Chou Chen Tien of Taiwan, 21-12, 18-21, 21-18 in the quarter-final.
In the men's doubles, Goh V Shem/ Tan Wee Kiong had to settle for the bronze medal after losing to Lee Yongdae/ Yoo Yeonseong of South Korea, 6-21, 15-21 in the semi-final.
