Athletes found using illegal substances will be banned from participating in Sabah
Tawfiq said the use of banned substances would only ruin the lives of the athletes themselves as well as damage the goodwill of the Sabah Sports Council.
The Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) will ban athletes who are found to be using illegal substances from participating in any kind of sports in the state, said its minister, Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan.
He said the ministry would not compromise with athletes who use banned substances but still wanted to participate in sports in the state.
"Some athletes, for example in bodybuilding, just because they do not want lose to their opponents, and want to have bigger biceps, they start using steroid injections," he said when opening the Mr Sabah 2017 state-level championship here, today.
Tawfiq said the use of banned substances would only ruin the lives of the athletes themselves as well as damage the goodwill of the Sabah Sports Council.
