Australia lift second SOJC title

Australia were crowned champions of the 2016 Sultan of Johor Cup hockey tournament after defeating Pakistan 3-1 in the final at Taman Daya Hockey Stadium last night.
The 2012 champions were actually jolted by Pakistan in the seventh minute when Hassan Anwar converted a penalty corner.
Stunned by the goal, the Burras bounced back to level the score 1-1 via a penalty corner taken by Frazer Gerrard in the 13th minute.
In the second half, both teams fought hard to break the tied before Australia were awarded a penalty corner in 47th minute in which Blake Govers easily scored to put the Burras two up.
Blake was the toast of the team when he scored another penalty corner in the 67th minute for Australia's 3-1 victory.
The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar later presented the SOJC trophy to the winners.
Also present to watch the final was Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Australia's Kiran Arunasalam was awarded the player of the match while Tom Craig was named the best scorer of the tournament with six goals.
Japan's goalkeeper, Keita Matsuda won the best goalkeeper of SOJC 2016. -- Bernama
