As the semi final match between Brazil and Germany came to a close on Tuesday at Belo Horizonte, social media websites were suddenly flooded by riot pictures allegedly happening in key cities like Sao Paolo.
However, Buzzfeed reported that the photos did indeed happen- but a year ago.
The photos were from riots in key cities across Brazil on June 26, 2013 as riot police clashed with demonstrators who were protesting the government’s handling of public issues like transportation, health services, education and security.

However, despite these false images, chaos did ensue during the Brazil vs Germany match, as fans were seen burning the national flag during half-time over their disappointment about Brazil’s inability to keep Germany from scoring.

The insanity didn’t stop there, fans who were celebrating on Copacabana beach were forced to flee as a gang of young men carried out mass robbery on the large crowd.

Meanwhile, dozens of police are now stationed at the stadium following the match to ensure safety of the fans.
