As the semi final match between Brazil and Germany came to a close on Tuesday at Belo Horizonte, social media websites were suddenly flooded by riot pictures allegedly happening in key cities like Sao Paolo.

However, Buzzfeed reported that the photos did indeed happen- but a year ago.

The photos were from riots in key cities across Brazil on June 26, 2013 as riot police clashed with demonstrators who were protesting the government’s handling of public issues like transportation, health services, education and security.
