Malaysia stormed into the 2017 Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Junior Championships mixed team final after thrashing favourites South Korea 3-0 in the semifinals in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on Friday.
Mixed doubles pair Ng Eng Cheong-Tan Sueh Jeou gave Malaysia a winning start by outclassing Jeong Min-Kim Seong Jae 21-9, 21-12 in just 21 minutes.
Asian junior champion Leong Jun Hao then beat Ki Dong Ju 21-6, 21-19 in the men's singles.
Goh Jin Wei, the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games gold medallist, secured Malaysia's berth in the final by defeating An Se Young 21-16, 21-19 in the women's singles.
Saturday's final will see a repeat of last year's final with fourth seeded Malaysia up against defending champion China, who are seeded third. China had defeated Japan 3-1 in the other semifinal tie.
For the record, Malaysia emerged victorious in 2011 while in 2009 and 2016 finished as runners-up. -- Bernama
