English Premier League outfit, Chelsea FC beat Malaysia 4-1 in an international friendly match at the Shah Alam Stadium here tonight.
The EPL club quickly stamped their class on the match by taking the lead after just six minutes when Bertrand Traore guided home a cross.
Coach Jose Mourinhos men then went 2-0 when Kevin De Bruyne blasted home a brilliant volley in the 29th minute, but injured his knee in the process afterwards when he fell awkwardly and was forced to miss the action for rest of the match.
Despite Bruynes absence, Chelsea added another goal on the stroke of half time through Romelu Lukaku to take a healthy 3-0 lead into the break.
The former European champions seemed to have taken their legs off the gas in the second half but still managed to add another goal through Victor Moses in the 89th minute.
Malaysia scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute through Mohd Fadhli Moha Shas to save the blushes and give the local fans a reason to cheer.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere at the Shah Alam stadium was electrifying as fans, young and old, gathered as early as 6pm to cheer both teams.
The fasting month, however, slightly affected the turn-out as only about 45,000 fans watched Malaysia take-on the EPL side in their fourth meeting since 2003, despite the kick off rescheduled to 9.45pm to allow fans to break fast and come to the stadium.
