Datuk Lee Chong Wei does not fear the psychological attack expected from Lin Dan in his quest for a first World Championship title in Guangzhou, China, from Aug 5-11.
The national champion is used to the psychological tactic used by his arch rival and confident that the thorough preparation for the championship will bear fruit.
"The psychological tactic often used by the Chinese player is not a problem for me as the important thing is focus. I feel more confident than during the previous World Championship.
"I am satisfied with the preparation which began after returning from the Indonesian Open last month. There is no pressure as I have experience playing in Guangzhou," he told reporters at KL International Airport (KLIA) here today before leaving for Hong Kong.
Chong Wei together with 28 other Malaysian players were off to Hong Kong for the the final phase of training for 10 days before departing for Guangzhou.
Also present at the airport were the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Datuk Seri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh and BAM general manager Kenny Goh.
Chong Wei hopes that Liew Darren and Chong Wei Feng would use the chance to play in Guangzhou to gain experience for the Thomas Cup, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games next year.
"Darren and Wei Feng are 26 years-old and no longer junior players. I hope they can give their best and make the quarter-finals or semi-finals," he added.
For the record, Chong Wei lost to Lin Dan in the singles final of the 2011 World Championships in London.
Meanwhile, Koo Kien Keat was confident that he and partner Tan Boon Heong would prove their ability by winning the doubles title at the championship.
"My target is to become the champion. For me, making the final and not winning the title will be meaningless," he added.
