Malaysian badminton ace Datuk Lee Chong Wei will face sixth-seeded Wang Zhengming of China in the third round of the Taiwan Open Badminton Championships.
The former World No. 1 beat 10th-seeded Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia 21-12 and 21-18 in 41 minutes to set up the encounter with Wang this evening at the Taipei Arena.
Wang, the World No. 7, had beaten Malaysian Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin 21-18 and 21-15 to advance to the third round.
Chong Wei is in Taiwan fresh from his victories at the Canadian Open and the American Open Gold Grand Prix.
He had skipped several international tournaments during the eight months that he was under suspension by the Badminton World Federation over a doping case.
After serving out the suspension, he helped Malaysia to win the bronze medal at the Singapore SEA Games 2015.
