National singles Chong Wei Feng clinched a semifinal berth at the Li Ning China Open in Shanghai Friday.
The 25-year-old edged out Japanese Takuma Ueda 21-16, 21-13 in 37 minutes to set a date with top seed Chen Long of China.
Wei Feng became the last Malaysian standing in the men's singles after teammate Liew Daren stumbled to qualifier and world ranked 95 Gao Huan of China in the second round Thursday.
Accompanying Wei Feng to the next round are national top pair Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong who defeated Taiwan's Chen Hung Ling/Lu Chia Bin 21-17, 21-17 in the men's doubles quarterfinal.
Awaiting them in the semifinal are Denmark's formidable pair and world number one Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen.
World number four mixed doubles Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ling also advanced to the semifinal after disposing off Riky Widianto/Puspita Richi Dili of Indonesia 21-16, 21-18.
They are set to take on another Indonesian pair, world number three Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir.
