Chong Wei leads 10 M'sia players to triumph on first day of World Championship

It was a good start for Datuk Lee Chong Wei and ten Malaysian players who cruised into the second round of the 2013 World Badminton Championship at the Tianhe Gymnasium here today.
The world's number one singles player, who was the top seed of the championship, did not face any problem in despatching off Scott Evans of Ireland, 21-11, 21-15.
Chong Wei will next meet young Indonesian, Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in the second round on Wednesday.
Also through to the second round were national singles, Chong Wei Feng and Liew Daren.
Wei Feng, seeded 15th in the championship, beat Rajiv Ouseph of England 21-11, 21-15 while Liew had to sweat for his victory against Russian, Vladimir Malkov 21-18, 20-22, 21-9.
Also in action were three women doubles who also booked their places in the second round.
They were Ng Hui Ern-Ng Hui Lin, Amelia Alicia Anscelly-Soong Fie Cho and Goh Liu Ying-Lim Yin Loo, while national mixed double pair of Ong Jian Guo-Lim Yin Loo also made to the second round.
However the mixed double pair of Tan Aik Quan-Lai Pei Jing was knocked out in the first round in straight sets.
