Malaysian ace, Datuk Lee Chong Wei expressed his happiness and satisfaction with the defence at the doping trial which opened before a three-member Badminton World Federation panel in Amsterdam, yesterday.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said Chong Wei had contacted him twice on Saturday to inform him about the proceedings.

"I spoke to Chong Wei yesterday. Our first conversation took place before the trial followed by one after the hearing ended. Chong Wei told his counsel had presented the defending arguments well during the eight-hours trial.

"Chong Wei's counsel was also given the opportunity to present their defence to the BWF discipline panel.

Khairy told reporters at Kuching's Padang Merdeka Fit Malaysia on Saturday also urged Malaysians continue to pray and hope for a positive outcome.

He added the Malaysian government, especially the Ministry of Youth and Sport has done its best to provide help to Chong Wei.

Khairy said has confidence in Chong Wei’s defence council led by the London-based lawyer, Mike Morgan.


Chong who was accompanied by Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) general manager, Kenny Goh and council member and lawyer, Jadadish Chandra arrived in London to meet Morgan on Friday.
