Mumbai Masters, which has Datuk Lee Chong Wei as their icon player, lost to Awadhe Warriors in the semifinals, thus failing to enter the finals at the maiden Indian Badminton League (IBL).
In a nail-biting match on Thursday evening, Awadhe, led by Indias PV Sindhu beat Mumbai 3-2, to secure their place in the finals against Hyderabad Hotshots, which has Indias Saina Nehwal as the icon player.
The final match would take place in Mumbai at 8pm Indian Standard Time.
The US$1 million Vodafone IBL started on Aug 14, with some high-voltage action. The league features six franchises.
Hyderabad leads the table with 17 points, followed by Awadhe 16, Pune Pistons 16, Mumbai 15, Krrish Delhi Smashers 13 and Banga Beats 13 points.
