Khairy Jamaluddin said he had instructed the ministry's chief secretary to approve an additional RM100,000 to Khairul Idham Pawi to supplement the previous allocation.
The Youth and Sports Ministry has approved an initial allocation of RM100,000 last year to help Moto3 national rider Khairul Idham Pawi in his career.
Its Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said however, the allocation could not be delivered to Khairul Idham after the 17-year-old failed to provide his account number and several documents as required.
"I have the copy of letter from the National Department of Youth and Sports, dated June 24, which was sent to Khairul Idham regarding the approval of RM100,000 allocation as promised before this.
"In the letter, we have asked particulars including a bank account under Khairul Idham's name. Instead, he gave a bank account under his father's name, Pawi Omar and the documents submitted were incomplete," he told a press conference after officiating the Perdana Fellows Structured BootCamp 2016 here today.
He was commenting on a complaint by Pawi, 52, on Monday who was disappointed when no quarters had come forward to help the career development of his son after winning the German Moto3 Grand Prix such as covering the cost for Khairul Idham's escort officers and that they had to fork out own money.
Commenting further, he said the ministry could not hand over the allocation just like that as several completed documents were required under the name of Khairul Idham, not his father.
Khairy also said he had instructed the ministry's chief secretary to approve an additional RM100,000 to the Honda Team Asia rider to supplement the previous allocation.
In another development, Khairy said he was now awaiting consent from Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah to discuss on the alleged wrongdoings in the FAM as claimed by Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
