Commonwealth Games: 'Save Gaza' gloves hits the wrong cord with officials
The gloves worn by Azizulhasni Awang was seen as a political protest.
Despite qualifying for the quarterfinals of the men’s cycling event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Thursday, the gloves worn by national cyclist Azizulhasni Awang was not well received by the Games authorities.
The Guardian reported that the gloves bearing the words, “Save Gaza” was seen as a political protest.
A spokesman at the Games said that they have requested for the Malaysian chef de mission for a report in order to find out the facts before any actions are taken against Azizul.
The Commonwealth Games seeks to avoid its competitions from being used for any political purpose or means.
