Malaysia clinched three gold medals in the Asian Cycling Championship (ACC) 2013 in New Delhi, India, today, with Muhammad Firdaus Mohd Zonis and Josiah Ng joining Fatehah Mustapa in delivering the medals on the last day of track events.

Earlier in the day, Fatehah beat China's Shi Jingjing in the women's 200m Sprint event.

Muhammad Firdaus landed a gold medal by beating South Korea's Jung Jeehee in the men's junior 200m Sprint, resulting in the second individual gold for him.

Malaysia dominated the men's elite 200m event when Josiah won the third gold for the country albeit an easy win for Josiah who was pitted against Iranian Hassanali Varposhti.

Malaysia is also eyeing the keirin event gold.

In her personal Facebook account, Fatehah also disclosed that she had also won a silver medal in the keirin event and was elated with her outing.

"Silver medal for keirin....Finish for this year..1 gold 1 silver 1 bronze from myself for Malaysia," said Fatehah.

Her sponsor, Sime Darby Foundation (YSD) congratulated Fatehah for her excellent showing at the competition.

"My personal congratulations to Fatehah for her sterling performance. Your wish to bring back a gold medal in this championship came true," said YSD chairman Tun Musa Hitam in a statement.

YSD has committed RM2.85 million to sponsor Fatehah and another national cyclist Mohd Azizulhasni Awang in their pursuit to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympics where the duo kicked off the Road to Rio Programme with their participation in the ACC event.

Although Azizulhasni did not manage any podium finish in his event, Musa commended him for his performance, given that he only had less than a month of training.

The YSD funding for three-and-a-half years starting from February 2013 to August 2016, will cover team entry and fees, flight tickets, travelling expenses, racing attire, travel equipment and allowances.
