National men's singles shuttler Liew Daren, who has come under flak for his inconsistent performance, has been given the nod to play in the Malaysian Open which gets underway at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil here on Tuesday.
BAM general manager Kenny Goh said this followed the player pledging not to let the country down at the championship.
"Liew Daren himself told me he regretted not giving his best at the National Circuit and has pledged to make amends," he told reporters after checking on the national squad's preparations for the Malaysian Open at the same venue today.
Also seen training at the venue were the squads from England and Hong Kong.
The 25-year-old was left out of the Koren Open Super Series that ended in Seoul yesterday because of his disappointing performance at the final circuit of the National Badminton Grand Prix (GP) 2012 in Kedah recently.
