Star-studded Johor Darul Takzim (Johor DT) lived up to its top billing by beating Kelantan 2-0 in a Super League match at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin, Johor, tonight.
With the win, Johor DT also moved up to second spot with 34 points, just one point behind leader Lion XII from Singapore who have 35, thus demoting Armed Forces (33) to third place.
Inevitably it was former Kelantan star Norshahrul Idlan Talaha who spoilt his former team's party by opening accounts in the 65th minute before Nurul Azwan Roya ensured all three points with the second goal in the 69th minute.
However, the win did not come easy for Johot DT as the match was delayed for about 40 minutes when fans started throwing bottles and other objects after failing to gain entry as the stadium was filled to capacity.
Police and the Johor DT management managed to reorganise the sitting arrangements for the fans, separating Kelantan and Johor fans before the match was allowed to start.
Meanwhile, Selangor moved closer to third position when Irfan Bakti's boys beat Terengganu 2-0 at the Shah Alam Stadium with a brace from import Francis Forkey Doe in the 24th and 89th minutes.
Selangor now have 30 points, one ahead of Pahang who have 29 points after their 2-0 victory over Negeri Sembilan at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi.
The squad coached by former international Dollah Salleh, scored through Mohd Razman Roslan (38th min) and Damion Stewart (49th min).
