Dayang Nurfaizah to sing Sea Games theme song

Popular singer Dayang Nurfaizah has been given the honour to sing the theme song for the 29th SEA Games and the 9th ASEAN Para Games.

The SEA Games (Kuala Lumpur 2017) theme song is penned by top composer Datuk Ramli MS.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin invited Malaysians to contribute ideas for the lyrics of the theme song via # laguKL2017.

"Datuk Ramli and I want the people to contribute lyrics for KL 2017 theme song via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram," he told reporters after launching the 100-day countdown to the SEA Games at KL Sentral today.

Khairy said the involvement of Malaysians in the SEA Games theme song will enliven the organisation of the biennial sporting event.

Born in Kuching, Sarawak, Dayang Nurfaizah is known for songs such as ''Lelaki Teragung'', ''Di Pintu Syurga'' and Érti Hidup''.

As a gimmick for the function, Khairy and more than 20 athletes took double-decker bus from Bangsar LRT station to KL Sentral station.

The Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (Masoc) also introduced two new sponsors, namely Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) and Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.

The SEA Games is slated for Aug 19-30 followed by the ASEAN Para Games from Sept 17- 23.
