SEBASTIAN Vettel cements his lead in the Formula 1 GP by winning the Bahrain Grand Prix. Lotus earned two podium positions with Kimi Raikkonen with Romain Grosjean in second and third respectively. Paul di Resta was fourth while Lewis Hamilton finished fifth. This was the same order the race finished last year.
Vettel who now has 28 F1 victories becomes the first driver to win a second race this year. This year’s race had 22 starters with one retirement. At one point, there was talk that it would not be held due to the incidence of bombs going off in the capital Manama in the few days leading up to the race. In the event, the threat did not materialize and the race went ahead. The F1 circus moves to Europe for the next race which is the Spanish GP.
Podium Interview:
Vettel: “It was a faultless seamless race from start to finish. Car was quick and things got better and better towards the end. Merci Beaucoup as all three cars are on Renault engines.”
Raikkonen: “ On Friday we decided on two-stop and today it worked well for us.”
Grosjean: “Pleased that after the first three races, we finally made it to the podium.”
