A national diving coach was arrested for the alleged rape of a diver from the National back up squad at the Bukit Jalil Sports Complex, here on Sept 26.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said the 35-year-old coach from China was detained by a police team yesterday after receiving a report from the victim.
"The victim lodged a police report on Sunday, fearing for her safety," Amar Singh said in a statement here today adding that the suspect would be remanded for five days from today to facilitate investigations into the alleged rape.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape. - BERNAMA
