The Football Association of Kedah (KFA) should not abuse the loyalty of supporters and fans of the Kedah team by increasing the price of tickets for matches at the Darul Aman Stadium.
Jaguh Utara Fan Club chairman Mohd Safarizal Mohd Sobri said it was well known that Kedah fans and supporters were always loyal and strongly backed the team, so the move by KFA would not be welcomed by fans.
"More so the winning of Malaysia Cup recently by Kedah had fired up thousands of Kedah fans," he said when contacted by Bernama.
Nonetheless, the plan to raise the ticket prices should not have happened as the people were now burdened by the rising cost of living.
"KFA should have sponsors if they wished to upgrade the stadium using the money of sponsors and not at the expense of fans," he said and hoped KFA would reconsider the proposal.
State Youth and Sports, Arts and Culture and Human Development executive councillor Datuk Aminuddin Omar said KFA was considering raising the prices of tickets for football matches at the state stadium from next year.
KFA had only recently raised the price of tickets for covered seats from RM16 to RM22 but the facilities and infrastructure had not been upgraded. -- Bernama
