National football squad coach, Dollah Salleh hopes his boys will give their best against Syria in a friendly at the Shah Alam Stadium on Wednesday.
He said the match could test the preparedness of the team to face the Suzuki AFC Cup to be held in Singpore soon.
"I fervently hope in the friendly match against Syria, we will be able to give a contest although we know the level of the Middle Eastern teams is on par with Europe," he told reporters, Sunday.
He said this before his squad faced the Johor President Cup team in a friendly match at Kluang Stadium.
He said the one-week preparation by the national team in Johor would boost its capability to face Syria.
The national squad would return to the capital after the friendly match Sunday.
On the Harimau Malaya squad's training on artificial pitch at Kluang Stadium, he said, it could prepare the players to play on the artificial pitch at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
He said the quality of the artificial pitch at the Kluang Stadium was far better than that at Jalan Besar Stadium, but the national players preferred to play on grass.
Touching on the fitness of the players, Dollah said all were in good condition except for minor injuries sustained by Aidil Zafuan Abdul Razak, Safiq Rahim and R. Gopinathan.
However, the injuries incurred by the three top players were not serious, he added.
