The patron of the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has presented a RM15,000 reward to wonder goal scorer Mohd Faiz Subri.
The reward was to celebrate Mohd Faiz's achievement of being in the top three for this year's Puskas Award following his goal that "defied the laws of physics" during a Super League match between Penang and Pahang in February.
According to the Johor Southern Tigers website, Tunku Ismail, who is also Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ), offered the reward in appreciation of Mohd Faiz bringing glory for the country.
"However, it has nothing to do with speculation that Mohd Faiz will be joining JDT (Johor Darul Ta'zim) for the next season of the Malaysia-League. "Wishing Faiz Subri every success," he said.
FIFA on its official website www.fifa.com has announced that Mohd Faiz is in the running for the Puskas Award along with Johnath Marlone Azevedo da Silva of Brazil's Corinthians Club and Daniuska Rodriguez of Venezuela.
Local football fans can still vote for Mohd Faiz at FIFA's official website www.fifa.com before the winner is announced at a grand ceremony in Zurich, Switzerland on Jan 9.
