The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has thrown Mohd Nazri Ahmad and Norfarhan Muhammad a lifeline by allowing them to resolve their contract issues amicably instead of going to the FAM Players Status Committee.
FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said if the duo are not able to resolve the contract issues, the case would be referred to the Players Status Committee that would be chaired by Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan on Dec 12.
"Once it goes to the committee the law will take its course because investigations will be based in documental proof. Any player found guilty of signing a 'double contract' can be suspended and fined," he told reporters after
a briefing session for the 2014 M-League season, Sunday.
He said the FAM had so far received two complaints about players having signed for two teams, namely Mohd Nazri and Norfarhan.
Hamidin said there was a trend whereby players would quietly sign contracts or letter of intent with teams without the knowledge of their own team although the guidelines and regulations have been issued to teams which would then need to brief the players.
