Felcra FC chief coach, Azman Eusoff, 51, died of viral lung infection at the Bandar Perda KPJ Hospital early this morning.
His eldest son, Nur Adly, 22, said his father was admitted into hospital on Monday after complaining of chest pains and breathing difficulties.
"My father had never been sick before this, and only two weeks ago he said he had chest pains and loss of appetite. He seems to have lost some weight," Nur Adly said when met after Azman's burial at Masjid Timah Muslim cemetery here after the Zuhur prayers today.
He said his father's health deteriorated further last night and he died at 2.45am at the hospital's intensive care unit.
Azman leaves behind a wife, Ladawan Whayee Yasin Ismail, 48, four sons and a daughter, aged between 13 to 22 years.
Azman was coach for the Kedah team for three seasons from 1998 to 2000 as well as assistant coach for Harimau Muda A when it played in Slovakia in 2010.
He was also manager for Penang in 2011 and coach for the National Football Development programme last year before training Felcra FC this year.
He was also Kedah assistant coach in 1993 when it won the Malaysia Cup and was runner-up to the Asean University Games in 2008.
Meanwhile, Felcra FC manager Mohd Fauzi Mohd Tahir, who was also present at the burial ceremony said the team would provide the family some assistance to lighten their burden.
"Azman was appointed Felcra FC chief coach last May and for as long as I knew him, he was a stern and disciplined man who was well-liked by everyone," he said.
