Malaysia's position in the world football ranking is not affected despite losing 0-2 to Indonesia in a friendly
match in Surabaya, Indonesia on Sunday.
Based on the latest ranking list issued by the International Football Federation (FIFA) on Thursday saw the Harimau Malaya (national) squad under Dollah Salleh going up one step to 154th in the world compared to 155 in August.
Malaysia were in 154th position in January, 150 (February), 141 (March), 142 (April), 145 (May), 153 (June) and 151st in the world in July.
The latest position placed the national squad on par with several teams such as North Korea (150), Kyrgyzstan (151), Guyana (153) and Puerto Rico which is at the 157th world ranking.
Among South East Asian nations, Malaysia remained in fifth place behind Philippines (134), Vietnam (142), Myanmar (143) and Singapore (149).
At the Asian level, Malaysia however, went up one position to be 28th of 46 nations.
The 2014 World Cup champions, Germany, retained its status as the best team in the world by gathering 1,765 points while Argentina is second after collecting 1,631 points.
South American's representative, Colombia, which prior to this was fourth, seized the third spot from the Netherlands after collecting 1,488 points.
Netherlands dropped one notch to fourth place with 1,456 points.
FIFA ranking involves 209 nations.
