Five detained for lighting flare at Liverpool-Malaysia match

Police detained five male suspects for possession and lighting a flare during the international friendly match between Liverpool FC and the Malaysian Selection at Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil, last night.
Cheras police chief ACP Chong Kok Sin said all the suspects, aged between 25 and 39 years, were believed to have committed the crime which could cause harm to the public.
"It was believed that the suspects lit the flare in the stadium during yesterday's match which was attended by about 40,000 spectators," he told Bernama here today.
He said all the suspects were being remanded for three days starting today to facilitate investigations.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
