Former Selangor coach Zainal questions FAS for keeping mum over his termination

The former international turned coach was unhappy with Selangor for 'keeping mum' over the issue since there has been no official letter stating his termination of contract.

Zainal said his immediate termination services in August by FAS president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was through a short messaging service (SMS) and press statement on social media, not through an official procedure.

He stressed that he had approached the FAS team management about the issue but was informed no such letter would be issued and that would further complicate my status because there is no avenue for him to look for a new prospect.

"I am not interested in keeping the job but need an official termination letter to move on with my career....since the whole country knows that I was sacked, why not make it official?

"Though the FAS team management had promised to resolve my status (contract) that was supposed to expire in November, nothing was done, except payment made on a monthly basis. However, payment was not made for (November and December)," he told reporters, here today.

Zainal was sacked on Aug 7, without any warning or notice but according to Selangor, Zainal was sacked after losing four consecutive matches in the Super League competition.

He said a meeting was held with former Selangor team manager Amirudin Shari two days ago and he had promised to resolve the issue by next week.

Meanwhile, on Dec 26, former assistant coach P. Maniam was appointed head coach for next season.
